Richard - you are correct on the warning - starting with Office98 the default security was "medium", which gave a virus warning before executing. In Office2000 it is "high" which just disables unsigned macros, or those not signed from a trusted source. That seems like a better default.

I agree 100% with your statement "Anyway you look at it, you should not reward people who distribute viruses." While I do believe that hackers and viruses will always be with us, I also believe that stiff penalties and vigorous enforcement will keep "casual hackers" from joining in the game.
