Jay, Thanks for retrieving the WSJ article.

Together with the Forbes article that was posted it is clear that we have very good times ahead, indeed.

It would appear that flash memory will be ubiquitous. I suspect the cell phone market and the embedded applications are going to suck up a lot of wafer. Also, there are newer semiconductor variants which are incorporating flash memory into their designs, include a new variant of flash based FPGA's. These alternative applications will hopefully prevent a glut of CF coming to market. Cellphone unit sales are going to eat up a lot of flash wafer in and of themselves.

I also wanted to apologize to Craig. The last two SanDisk posts are saying..."were entering the embedded storage market". Although they appear to be targeting local storage with IDE emulation (and not code storage), the implications are clear. I would consider SNDK more of a competitor with FLSH at this point than a competitor of SSTI. Read through this press release and you'll see why...

They could have been talking about me in that article. Haven't made a conventional photo since last July. This year, I will make somewhere close to 400 photos, slightly more than usual because of (1) 2 grandchildren and (2) the visit of the First Lady to this small rural upstate NY community (more than 50 photos -- my wife chairs the county Democratic Committee). It's not just the photos but the large number of reprints, all of which are costing me far less than conventional photography.
