You misinterpreted my comment. I simply meant that the "quality of life in Cuba" issues that have fired up so many people opposed to returning Elian to Cuba apparently have no LEGAL bearing on the case for asylum. Only if he were in immediate personal danger, if things would be much worse for him than anyone else there, would asylum most likely be granted.

As for the jump from this case to bringing "hundreds of millions of children" from poor countries to here -- huh?? I support improving someone's quality of life where they are, no matter where they live. How I may do it is no one's business but mine.
