Barry,

We've gone to great lengths to make sure this article is well researched and an accurate

In fact, they have just the opposite. They did their best to cripple the PC-133 based system, while they spent like there is no tomorrow on the RDRAM based system.

For example, they used CAS-3 PC-133 memory in the test. Just FYI, Micron subsidiary Crucial sells 128 MB of PC-133 at these prices:
CAS-3: $128.69
CAS-2: $134.99
The difference: $6.30
So the guy crippled PC-133 based system by "saving" $6.30, but on the other hand, he selected the fastest, the rarest (from the yield perspective) and the most expensive RDRAM: PC800. He did not stop there. He used a video driver that is known to have serious performance problems.

On many benchmarks, the differences are within 1 to 2%, so these "slight" differences in picking the type of memory decide which system wins or loses. For example, in the 3D gaming benchmark, the difference between CAS2 and CAS3 SDRAM amounts to about 6% improvement for CAS2. So this ugly duckling called Via instead of winning the benchmark (as the site reported) would run away with it.

Let's continue: The performance difference between PC800 and say PC600 is even greater, up to 10% or more performance loss when you move from PC800 to PC600 (which is still more expensive that PC133 by factor of 2 to 5.

I liked this too.

I think you are very easy to please. Did anyone tell you that the love is blind? Maybe you are in love with this stock so much that you refuse to see reality

Joe
