Victor: <Only an idiot would believe that it "evaporated."> Prices are set at the margin. The "loss" on paper of a share that did not trade does just "evaporate". When a company like CSCO drops 200 billion in market cap, there is no corresponding $200 billion in somebody's pocket. A large part of the $200 billion just "disappears" -- evaporates.
