Business has been great for JDS
Uniphase. Demand for optical components
continue to outstrip supply. In
fact, the incredible demand for optical
products is probably JDSU?s biggest problem.
The company is experiencing increasing
capacity constraints because of this.
And at the current rate of industry
growth, the situation may get worse. Still,
earnings should increase to $0.38 a share
in fiscal 2000, or more than double last
year?s tally. Longer term, JDS Uniphase
will likely continue growing at a brisk rate
of over 50% a year, due to new fiber-optic
network rollouts and upgrades.

here, in part, is what value line says in giving the stock its top rating for 6-12 month performance. looking ahead to the year 2004, value line sees approximate earnings per share of 2.35.
