Dave,

And here's part of the last paragraph from that press release...

and/or that various DDR memory modules may not function correctly with AMD's chipsets

Come on, that is exactly what I was talking about:
"Cautionary statement This presentation contains forward-looking statements, which are made pursuant to the safe harbor provisions of the Private Securities Litigation Reform Act of 1995..."

Be afraid, be very afraid. DDR is not going to work reliably in desktops.

I thought Jim Kelly was the Ringo Starr of the RMBS thread. Well, there may be more than one Ringo Starr here. I asked a serious question, and you come back with this BS.

Joe

Hi Dave B; Re AMD warning that DDR might not work...

For reference, here is the offending sentence:
April 24, 2000:
AMD DEMONSTRATES FIRST AMD ATHLON? PROCESSOR PLATFORM SUPPORTING DOUBLE DATA RATE (DDR) MEMORY
Forward-looking statements in this presentation about AMD chipset products involve the risk that AMD may not develop the new products on the expected timetable or at all, that third parties may not provide DDR memory as needed for support of the AMD chipsets, and/or that various DDR memory modules may not function correctly with AMD's chipsets.

You guys have to be really getting desperate to dig holes this shallow. Don't you know that I am going to root you out of it? If you would just leave it alone, I would ignore it, but to continue to post this BS.

AMD quite commonly puts out cautionary stuff like that in their PR, as you undoubtedly found out if you had looked through more than just a few of them. I have no idea how they pick which ones to add it to, maybe they have different lawyers look at them. Sometimes their news has no cautionary statement at all, sometimes it has a standard warning, and sometimes it mentions something about the product. It sure looks like boiler plate to me, here are some more examples, most of them before the DDR announcement, so you can't say that fear of shareholder lawsuits only started with DDR:
