"catch a falling knife" a common excuse not to buy when one neglects true valuation metrics. those valuations exist even in gg. if you can make an educated guess as to the bottom, stepping up to the plate becomes statistically a better bet. given the number of smart people on this thread i'm surprised there hasn't been a concerted effort to define these metrics in gg. 15 months ago valuation metrics led me to qcom among others. look to psr, cash and cash equivlents, peg and historical relatives by industry. look to revenue trends and the management team. forget momo and short term earning trends. djw

I volunteer to do a GG analysis of Krispy Kreme!!

LOL - CSCO, the enabler of the internet, is slammed for sporting a PE of 100, KREM selling at a PE of 74 and praised as being a company "that people can understand." Classic. I wonder when (put) options will be listed on this puppy...

Stan,

This thread, my fave, has been in a funk with the market.

It's my favorite too, but part of the reason there are fewer posts lately is because it has been so diffcult accessing the forum. Waiting a minute or two to get a response screen and waiting long times to be able to post a response, or not being able to post it at all, is doing wonders for tekboy's bloat meter. But it's horrible for people trying to enjoy the thread.

And if you wonder why I might be in a bad mood, it's because my videotape from San Diego is defective. Things of a technological bent aren't going well right now. :)
