You know, I am long certain areas of the market. My single largest holding is TLM, and you might check its chart through the past month.

But TLM is making money. Its first quarter revenues are up 5000% over a year ago. It's been held down by bad publicity over the Sudan holdings. But as soon as I realized that the worst that could happen was that it would be forced to sell out its Sudan play at a huge profit, I bought a lot more of it.

The idea of owning a stock is to own part of a company that makes money and to buy it at a reasonable price. This doesn't have anything to do with timing. To buy stocks just because they have been going up is the oldest self-scamming "investment" folly around. It's like buying Cabbage Patch dolls.
