geep> This PO seems to verify the belief that VLNC has not been the bottle neck, but that it has been G* who has been having start up problems. They sound capable of much larger volumes with multiple customers. duckster

Valence Receives Additional Order for Satellite Phone Batteries New Order AlmostDoubles Existing Order
Tue May 09 08:00:00 EDT 2000

HENDERSON, Nev., May 9, 2000 /PRNewswire via COMTEX/ -- Valence Technology
Inc. (Nasdaq: VLNC), a leader in the development and commercialization of
lithium polymer rechargeable batteries, today announced that it has received a
follow-on order for its Model 25A batteries from Moltech Power Systems. This
order is the result of an additional order from Moltech's OEM customer who
placed the initial order for this battery in October. This purchase order is
conditioned upon negotiation of a formal contract and other customary
conditions.

In response to industry demand, Valence intends to increase its production of
this size battery. A similar footprint, 25mm x 110mm is now being tested for use
in various other applications, including mobile high-speed wireless data
transmission. In order to rapidly ramp up production capacity for this customer,
Valence is transferring production of the Model 25 cells onto one of its
high-speed production lines at its Ireland facility. This will allow Valence to
respond to potential increased demand for this footprint. Valence will receive
additional payment directly from the OEM customer for certain Non Recurring
Engineering costs which are associated with the tooling and re-allocation of
production capacity.

Lev Dawson, Chairman and CEO of Valence said, "We are pleased that Moltech and
Valence have been chosen to continue to supply this important customer with the
bulk of its needs for lithium polymer batteries."
