Insofar as the basis of the proposal is the proposition that "the market does better in the long run" than the alternative returns people may expect under the current system, then I could support this if the "free money" were mandated to be invested in Index funds. Otherwise, day-trading cowboys may leave widows on the dole for us to support later on (or even themselves--we wouldn't let them starve, would we?).
