Is it just the path from the street and through a business, or are they going to supply switching at the hubs of fiber companies like LVLT and Q and GBLX?

I'm afraid you've gone beyond the bounds of my knowledge, but I would relate it to how Cisco grew in the internet market. They started out with routers, then they started making switches and perhaps now they make most of the components for IP network.

Cisco now has a tiny part of the optical space. Wavelength routing, Optical Transport, DWDM, and components is stuff I've heard about. I haven't heard of a optical switch yet, just the different technologies (bubble, Mems, Mirror). This page:

cisco.com

talks about the products Cisco currently sells (they haven't mentioned an acquisition today, have they? :) Long term, I would expect a Cisco solution end to end.
