Gottfried, I read through today's press release and did get a chance to listen to the CC. I'm relieved that there were not any surprises and that the delay in the report was simply due to the finance guys needing a little more time to verify accuracy because of the new accounting system that was recently installed. This was one of those rare occasions when an earnings delay was a total non-event.

Everything that I heard sounded good going forward with May sales to date already running +8%. In addition, Paine Webber, Advest and Value Line folks asked questions at the CC. Perhaps we'll get an upgrade based on the positive outlook management expressed.

I'll post some additional comments later, but I have to run right now. (Hey, WMAR's already trading back above eight this morning!)

Regards - Dale

Gottfried, If you didn't get a chance to listen to the CC, you can access it by phone through midnight Friday: 1-800-475-6701 Access Code: 517106.

A couple of additional notes: May to date COMP store sales are already up 8%. Roll-out costs in Q1 for the Watersports and Advantage initiatives totaled 500K (Margins and EPS would have been significantly better for Q1 without these unusual items). New store openings are planned for: 2 in Q3 and 1 in Q4. Pricing remains stable and purchasing costs have been improving.

The outlook is improving significantly IMO. I wouldn't be surprised to see an upgrade from Paine Webber.

Regards - Dale
