Les, i actually believe that there are several OLBs that are potentially dangerous places to keep one's money at. i have deliberately chosen to use more expensive, but at the same time 'safer' outfits. since most of the margin buying is in NAZ stocks, and NAZ MMs have no obligation whatsoever to make a market, it is conceivable that in a high volatility downturn margined accounts can't be liquidated in time, endangering the OLBs financial position. i'm not saying that is what WILL inevitably happen, but it's certainly possible. so i'm not surprised they're raising margin requirements again.

and i'm sorry to hear about this disabled guy who's now in the red. all those analysts were throwing out buy recommendations on stocks that now trade anywhere from 50-80% down from their recommendation and i wouldn't be surprised if many inexperienced traders were in fact blindly following them. well, Levitt came out and warned people about that, and his warnings were laughed off.
