Hi .Trev,

The Louis R explanation was that hamsters are extremely nervous creatures. When a human approaches them their heartbeat jumps several times the normal level. This he compared to the market, which he felt was nervous about everything.

Obviously hamsters are very worried about things that humans are involved in. They know only too well what it is like to be squished by a big pile of crap(gggggggggggggg).
