David,

Thanks for the excellent post! I didn't realize there would be separate classes either.

One thing for sure .... I think I'll be buying COMSv Puts on 7/11, if they are available that is. I want to hold onto my shares, but am afraid of the selling pressure.

Let us know if you come up with a grand plan. WOuld sure beat my holding through the IPO debacle!

Mike

Can anyone confirm that Palm intends to move to a StrongArm processor (probably from Intel) by year end? I hear they (Intel) expect 400MHz at .18um groundrules by year end at around 1W. I don't feel comfortable at all with
current Palm hardware capabilities long term. With StrongArm, Palm will not be at a disadvantage from a CPU point of view.

Thread:

Corrections to my previous post:

(1) The PALMv shares will trade on a "when-issued" market, while it's the COMSv shares that will trade on the "ex-distribution" market. If you sell any PALMv entitlement shares between the record date and the D-Date, the buyer gets the shares on D-Day. Can the buyer re-sell the PALMv entitlement shares prior to getting them? The Q&A don't say, but I guess so since there'll be a market in them.

(2) The PALM web site says in the "overview" that the PALMv and COMSv will trade between 7/11 and 7/27. The Q&A indicate that the PALMv and COMSv shares will trade from 7/7 (2 business days prior to the record date of 7/11 when the ratio will be fixed) through 7/27. I can't tell yet whether the 7/7 or 7/11 date is correct, presumably we'll find out sometime soon.

>>>you can also sell your 1000 COMS on the "ex-distribution market" (i.e. you can sell 1000 COMSv underlying),<<<

How does one trade on the "ex-distribution market"? This is a new on on me.
