m-commerce = mobile commerce
l-commerce = location-based commerce

Take a look @ what GM and the Japanese are doing. GM is transforming itself into an manufacturing and information services company using e-commerce as a driver. Your dashboard is really a souped up cockpit. You'll have real time quotes read to you. You'll know where the nearest Pizza Hut is depending on your geographic positioning. You can access the internet while you're travelling. So what is the bottomline: Telematics= speech recognition+wireless internet+geographic positioning services (using satellites).

The Japanese are doing wireless stuff in a big way thru their 3G (or DoCOMO) project. You can realize tremendous synergies by combining high speed wireless and internet. Wireless applications don't just benefit teenagers.

Anyway, TIBCO, a true visionary company in my opinion, sees the next big evolution. They're strategically positioning themselves by providing the real time plumbing to the wireless and GPS-based applications. They have partnerships with companies such as phone.com, and other Wireless Application Protocol (WAP)leaders. Just like yahoo, one potential application for TIBCO is the wireless portal at a minimum besides commerce.
