Hi all; Those wishing to estimate RDRAM penetration for 2000 may take note of the following link. This has been the subject of this thread for some time due to the question of Dataquest vs Semico and Inquest estimates being different. I believe that it is no longer possible for RDRAM to get penetration (in terms of bits) as high as 10% in 2000:

SDRAM vendors stop taking orders for 2Q
Samsung estimated Direct RDRAM could constitute 20% of its total DRAM shipments this year. Analysts noted that as the only vendor shipping Rambus in quantity to the computer market, Samsung is enjoying high margins, which it wants to maintain. Indeed, Eminian said Samsung has yet to substantially lower its Direct RDRAM RIMM module prices since it began volume shipments last November.

OLD NEWS

I know that the following link is old news, (like the Sassen article that this post links to) but somehow the engineer in me doesn't think that it's official until EET reports it:

Micron Technology shows DDR SDRAM platforms
... a dual-processor, single-controller configuration; a dual-processor/dual-controller platform for servers and workstations; and a single-processor/single-controller platform for desktop applications.

Great post!

It hits the issues dead on. I think Rambus should get a nice bounce tomorrow from the strong reaffirmation of support from Intel.

I wonder how scalable DDR? BILOW get to work with your next spin job.
