Hi Scared but Hopeful; Re blockwrites and SGRAM. Block clears are the main use of block writes, but I suspect that a relatively small fraction of a 3D graphics card's memory is devoted to stuff that would apply to, or the frequency that they would have to be applied at.

But I do readily admit to having only a vague idea how they use 32MB of memory to create an image with only something like 3MB of data. My guess was that 90% of the memory was going to be devoted to coordinates of triangles and textures or other stuff that wouldn't need Z-clears.

Educate me, please.
