Well Carl,

4 channels is only 64 bits. With the new generation RDRAM it would only take 2 channels. That is a distinct advantage of RDRAM over DDR. That would make the data path 1/4 the size of the DDR data path. The point is that DDR is not a scalable solution.

By the way have you seen any DDR being used in Serdes cards?
