Scared but Hopeful

if I was buying any DELL system, I'd buy as little memory as possible and upgrade myself with the cheapest noname 128MB DIMMs (ok RIMMs if I can get them :))

That's how it normally works out - the box maker rips you off on the memory, compared to market price, it doesn't work like this for RDRAM, since Dell is selling 128 MB for $480, while pricewatch is about $550.

Something doesn't add up here, as you may suspect: why would Dell sell the RDRAM for less that the market price? Your guess is as good as mine.

Scared,

I have an Precision 420 with 1/2 GB of RDRAM. I like to get the best myself and I am willing to pay more for it. It is a dual processor PC and the best I have had.

It will take even more memory and I may upgrade later on when the prices have fallen.
