Italian Utility's Purchase:

Great News on Italy, but help the technically challenged. Doesn't this lead to share dilution?

The Italian utility also would buy three million newly issued shares of Echelon's stock, or about 9% of its shares outstanding, for more than $100 million.

TIA

Hitachi Plant Engineering Licenses LonWorks Technology

TOKYO (Nikkei)--Hitachi Plant Engineering & Construction Co. (1970) has licensed U.S. firm Echelon Corp.'s LonWorks interoperable control network technology.

LonWorks uses microcontrollers with communication capabilities, known as Neuron Chips, that communicate with each other using a common protocol, enabling networked control of devices produced by different manufacturers. The technology can be used to efficiently control systems such as air conditioning and lighting in clean rooms and other industrial settings.

Hitachi Plant Engineering is targeting 87.5 billion yen in air-conditioning system orders in fiscal 2000, but projects that use LonWorks technology could boost orders by 1-2 billion yen a year.

Looks like the Italian company is paying about $33 per share, correct? Also, do you happen to know what the yearly schedule is for recognizing the 300 million in revenue for the deployment of the technology?

Thanks, Huey
