I think Homestake and Barrick have so many adjoining properties in South America that the present arrangement is just fine - so if HM is a player in the PGD situation it will be because they want to get a strong foothold there.

From Northern Miner:

Tulawaka tests spawn optimism

Partners Pangea Goldfields (PGD-T) and Explorations MiniŠres du Nord (MDN-T) have received encouraging metallurgical results from their Tulawaka gold project in Tanzania.

Composite samples for the talus, saprolite and sulphide material in the East zone yielded more than 95% of their gold after 36 hours under cyanide leach. Upwards of 81% of the gold in the talus sample was liberated by gravity methods alone.

The samples, each of which weighed 250 kg, represent drill chips of reserve circulation holes. The partners are collecting similarly representative samples from core holes to test for grinding and geo-technical characteristics.

Resources in the East zone are pegged at 1.6 million tonnes grading 18.96 grams gold per tonne (T.N.M.,
April 24/00). A second but separate structure, known as the West zone, hosts 736,678 tonnes grading 2.9
grams.

At the East zone, mineralization is held in three gold-bearing quartz veins, which individually strike for up to 600 metres in length for a combined strike length of 1 km. Overall, the zone extends to a depth of at least
150 metres.

The metallurgical results are being incorporated into an ongoing in-house prefeasibility study, which includes
an environmental base-line study. A complete environmental impact study will follow.

Pangea manages and owns a 70% stake in the Tulawaka project, with the remainder held by MiniŠres du
Nord.

Any one interested in "guesstimating" when and at what price will PGD and MDN will be taken over?

My bet : last week of June for the first bid, after we get new diamond drill results (sometimes in June) from Tulawaka. My undersatnding is that current drilling results are consistent with what has been observed so far (in the 30 gr/ton range, still open). It has been a long time since we have heard about GOlden Ridge drilling results by Barrick..

Price : $13.50 for PGD and $3.75 for MDN.
