zak,

i'm right there with you re 'subterranean homesick blues' being, quite possibly, the first rap song (i say quite possibly because as we all know, dylan is heavily influenced by obscure sources, and we may well be unaware of where he first soaked it up).

but i'm afraid you lost me with this statement, "But it didn't take long for me to find it completely incomprehensible that a third rap album was ever released." possibly i've missed a previous post that sheds light on it.

:)

One interesting thing about the Rap artists - watching them perform, I've always had the impression that they must have attended the "Joe Cocker School of Visual Expression". I mean, those hand & body movements, what's that all about?

Ya gotta love some of the names tho, but truthfully, I wouldn't know Puff Daddy from Snoop Doggey Dog or Vanilla Ice. Besides that I'm not real sure if the above are individuals or groups either.

This conversation also makes me want to add another to my personal "worst list" - "The Rapper". "Rap, Rap, Rap, they call him the rapper". Anyone remember the name of the "Burg" group which had this big hit?
