I would suspect that they sold their MU stock to help finance this problem

I personally don't think so. Intc popped MU 1/2 a billion the other day to help MU thru some tough times, remember the Asian Earthquake stuff last year, and also, I would assume, to insure a supply of MU rambus, which doesn't seem to be working out.

JFD, re:<Tony: Where is Paul when the sierra hits the fan? I wonder if has any take on the real cost odf these mother board replacements. INTC says that the exchanges could be significant to the bottom line. I would suspect that they sold their MU stock to help finance this problem which they might have detected some time before then.>

Not to worry, the mobo replacement charge will merely be a footnote in Intel's financial statement, like acquisition costs and trading losses on put options written.
