DougR: Yes, 1973-74 was tough...I remember it well. Arthur Burns and HIS Fed make Alan Greenspan and his team seem downright avuncular. (Lee)

Lee, we are old enough to remember the 1973-74 bear market. Dow was down over 50% with many stocks down over 70%. A couple of good friends in the brokerage business were laid off. They were leaving anyhow. It was a tough time

Doug, your bringing back memories that I thought I couldn't remember. I was a lot younger, and here in Michigan you could only open up a small account for 500 or so at First of Michigan, there probably were others, but very hard to find. That's when I took the advise of something similar to what I received in my email today, which I'll post below. It's markets like these that made people like my self get more stocks for the same amount. It wasn't to hard to find "four or five" good stocks to invest in for the "Long Term"
