Technically speaking, today's drop to fill the gap is good for a long term bull run. The math for calculating the values of COMS & PALM should be able to make sense soon (I guess that may take two to three weeks from now). How lower can PALM go? Let's put a number... eeeeennnn, how about $15? It's the original planned IPO number. How lower can COMS be priced after the spinning off PALM? Let's take $15 also ($8 in cash plus business with around $5 billion annual revenues. It's a number can not be lower).
So, we will have COMS($15)+1.5xPALM($15)=$37.5
The question is how many investors want to sell their PALM and COMS shares to you at $15. I won't.
Can Palm be shorted to $15? After the spinning off, may be, but not before. Can COMS be priced below $15 after the spinning off PALM? It's possible, but I doubt. The cable modem business may be worth $10 and the home connectivity business may be another $10. So, sleep tight with good dream for your future. When you wake up, you may have found you are much richer than now. :-)
