Re: Do you think it is an accident that the market is rebounding since you went back to work? I think NOT

Mani,

It looks like the market tanked bigtime after I went back to work!!

I work for global services, so I'll explain a little how it goes since you guys are hassling me about work (actually if the market tanks when I turn my back, maybe I should follow it all day).

I start a new project on Monday, 320 hours or 8 weeks. To break down the numbers:

I bill at $150 an hour, or $48,000 for the project

They pay me roughly $25 an hour, if you factor in overhead (my computer, Lou's salary, benefits, etc.) you could say it costs IBM $50 an hour for me, or $16,000 for the project

So, in 8 weeks I'll add $48,000 to IBM's top line and roughly $32,000 to IBM's bottom line. Not bad for one guy, huh?

The reason I have nothing to do this week is because it's very hard to line up these projects one after another. If a project starts late or gets done early, there will be "bench time". (This is also why we charge so much)

It's a hell of a racket Lou has going on, isn't it?
