JDS Uniphase not worried by Nortel new unit May 10, 2000 03:38 PM VANCOUVER, May 10 (Reuters) - JDS Uniphase Corp. CA:JDU JDSU is not worried by Nortel Networks Corp.'s CA:NT NT plan to form a new fiber-optic equipment unit, a senior JDS executive told analysts on Wednesday. JDS Uniphase, which is the world's largest supplier of fiber-optic equipment used in phone networks, supplies Nortel with optical components. Some analysts had seen Nortel's move as an attempt to reduce its dependence on JDS. "I think if you look at what they said, what they're doing is producing components that complement what we do," Steve Moore, JDS's vice-president of finance, told a Goepel McDermid Inc. investment conference in Vancouver. Moore said JDS is producing at maximum capacity and production capacity is the biggest factor controlling revenue growth -- which the company forecasts will be in the range of 20 percent on a quarter-to-quarter basis. moneycentral.msn.com good Luck Don
