AMAT came in at $.53 EPS excluding one time charges...consensus was $.55. For the past year AMAT typically beats consensus by $.05 or more.

That coupled with slowing REV growth YOY is why there is disappointment.

AMAT met concenses and more importantly reported a monster order backlog. EPS numbers should be revised upward tomorrow perhaps followed by an upgrade or two. I would not be surprised if SOX rallied tomorrow.

The only way AMAT met consensus was thru the help of one time charges; they let INTC squeak thru on that one but I bet they won't let AMAT get away with it. And while I hope you are right, I really don't think the SOXX will rally tomorrow.....I think the sh*t is going to hit the fan.
