I agree, Christopher. This conversation is getting to be pretty time consuming.

So, I'll keep it short.

1- I don't know, nor can any of us know, what would have happened if a less overtly threatening method were used to grab the kid. It's done, though, so any speculation is rather pointless, except as to the next time. Nonetheless, I thought the intimidation by the INS was unnecessary and cowardly.

2- If the family was breaking any laws, they were doing so on advice of several attornies. Even that bastion of radical right wing thought, Alan Dershowicz (sp?) made a major point of criticizing Renal & Co, saying that "no American is bound to follow the directives of anyone in the Executive Branch; only the COURTS can order people to do things." [That's my paraphrase, not an exact quote.]

I have a few other minor arguments with your previous post, but like you said, this discussion is probably boring everyone to death, and I have other things to do, too. :-)

Interesting discussion, Christopher, and let me say it is a pleasure to be able to disagree without unpleasantness in the conversation.
