Re: Chic, you're fearless posting some of the stuff you post about IBM! What if a sales guy reads this post. All he has to do is look up Chic Hearne on the company phone list and BAM, you're busted! ;0

Dave,

Really my name is not chic hearne, I just envy the Lakers announcer. :-)

If they really wanted to find out who I am, I'm sure they could though.

My views are not some right wing view of 1% of the company. Almost all of the technical folks I work with feel the same way. Look at some of THE WATSONYOUTH's posts, I've seen him state that the entire management is driving IBM into the ground.

Honestly, if you take the case of the SP80, there is no reason why we aren't selling 10x as many as we are. Who is to blame?

IBM has by far the best products on the market in many areas. This is not a secret. Someone is at fault here, and it is not the technical folks like myself.

All I have to say, is if IBM sales and marketing can pull it together, watch out!!!

Other companies use bold marketing and sales tactics (IE, SUNW and ORCL), there's no reason why IBM shouldn't be doing the same.

For example, have you seen the DELL ads where they talk about e-business saying that they do $40,000,000 a day of online sales? Thier pitch is go to them, they are the leader. Do you know that IBM does $50,000,000 a day of online sales? Shouldn't we be pushing something like this? We are the leaders, but many think we are falling behind.

BTW- If you read my posts closely, you'll see how bullish I am on IBM technology, the best in the world.
