Re: My wife has a friend who is VERY bullish on IBM over the next few years

Dave,
I believe the problem with stocks like IBM is the "market cap roadblock". IBM is already a $200 billion company, a double would mean $400 billion. The other problem is growth rate. The analysts that were critical of IBM today said that they wished IBM had the growth rate of SUNW. IBM pulls in $20 billion a quarter, SUNW only about $3 billion. For IBM to have 25% growth, they need an extra $5 billion a quarter, where as for SUNW it is pretty easy to tack on an extra $1 billion or so. With Gerstner dumping the high revenue/low profit divisions it is impossible to improve revenues.

IMHO, IBM has made the strategic moves over the past 5 years to have excellent business for some time to come. Will the stock follow, who knows?

For the same reasons I think IBM's stock is crippled, I think AMD has an unlimited upside. Sh*t, even a $1000 stock price on AMD only gives it a market cap of $150 billion.

RE: chic hearne, I hope you know that I knew that. I lived in LA for 10 years. That said, I still want the Pacers to win it all this year!

I can't stand the Pacers, Reggie and all those winers. I wanted the Bucks or T-wolves to win it all, so at this point I don't really care.
