You must be joking. A company whose source of revenue
is auction listing fees and commissions says that "the
number of items is not significant to their earnings and
revenues anymore"? This must be the most bullshit statement
that Meg ever made. How is she going to grow revenues?
Start giving out loans with the $900M she has in cash?

If the number of items is not significant, shut down the
site completely - the number of items listed will go to 0,
but is is not "significant" any more, so who cares - and
think of all those bandwidth and maintenance fees you will
save!

What???????

The number of listings is not significant anymore?

That's like saying the number of customers is not significant, or the amount of sales is not significant.

If what you say is true, it is the single, most stupid statement I have EVER heard a CEO make.

How high do they think they can go with commissions?

The auction count has ALWAYS been the most SIGNIFICANT measure of eBay's health.

The reason the auction count is not being posted is because it has been flat to down over the past two months.

And if the auction count does not pick up quickly in a significant manner, you will see eBay report a sequentially flat quarter in July.

Then, we'll see how much the auction count matters.
