For over a year now, Muffy has been subdued in her activities. Moping constantly about her lack of success in finding Mr. Right.

That long ago episode with the SI thread cookies just about did her in. Apparently, other SI regulars felt the same. The reduced posting activity was really depressing poor Muffy. All her favorite posters had since moved on to other venues. Was this to be the end of SI? Where would Muffy go? Her very existence relies on the underlying stability of her home in cyber country.

Now ... what to do? Let this once great medium die? Just sit back and let the world pass her by? Of course not!! That's not our beloved Muffy. She won't take this posting malaise lying down. Nosirree.

She sat there in her overstuffed chair, idly watching Oprah, as her mind wandered.

Suddenly, she leaned forward, looking closely at the image on the screen. "Hey", thought our Muffster. "Who is that guy Oprah is interviewing? Isn't that ... oh, what's his name?"

Just then, the screeching sound of braking tires invaded the relative silence of the neighborhood! A crash! Screams! The lights went out. The TV blinked off.

Muffy ran to the window to see what had happened. Two cars had collided, head-on. One had careened into the telephone pole and knocked down the power transformer.

"Oh, great", said Muffy. "Now, I'll never find out who that guy was on Oprah."

"Hey, I know. I'll just call somebody else who watches Oprah all the time."

So, she walked over to the phone, picked up the receiver, and started dialing. But, no dial tone. "Damn!", said Muffy. "Lost the power, *and* the phone lines. I'll have to go in person."

She ran to the closet to put on her jacket, then hurried out the front door of her apartment, intending to visit her old friend. But, when she got down to the front door of her apartment building, it was blocked by one of the cars that had collided.

"What now?", whined Muffy. "Can't I ever catch a break?"
