Re: Alleged Misconduct by the New Haven Police Some of the same officers involved with the Jovin murder are being accused of covering up evidence in another high-profile murder: the 1996 shooting death of North Haven resident Phillip Cusick. I've already posted several articles on the subject and will continue to do so because I believe they further my contention that there has been massive incompetence in the Jovin investigation. ===== Interviews conducted in cop probe By William Kaempffer and Ann DeMatteo May 12, 2000 Register Staff Investigators from the Chief State?s Attorney?s office conducted interviews at North Haven police headquarters Thursday in preparation for an impending grand jury investigation, sources close to the case said. etc.zwire.com ===== Judge to probe alleged cop misconduct By Jack Dew and William Kaempffer, Register Staff May 13, 2000 A New Britain judge has been tapped as the grand juror who will probe allegations of misconduct by officials in the New Haven Police Department, according to sources close to the case. Judge Carmen Elisa Espinosa will act as the one-person grand jury to hear evidence in an investigation into whether members of the detective bureau in New Haven hid evidence in a North Haven murder. etc.zwire.com ===== Cop says he forgot evidence By William Kaempffer, Register Staff May 16, 2000 NEW HAVEN ? A city police sergeant told internal affairs investigators that controversial evidence in a 1996 North Haven murder inadvertently was forgotten in his desk drawer for more than a year, sources said. Sgt. Edward Kendall, then second-in-command in the detective bureau, told internal investigators last week his supervisor told him to forward the evidence to North Haven police, but he was sidetracked by a series of murders in New Haven and failed to do so, sources said. Kendall's statements to internal affairs came as a grand jury began investigating whether supervisors here intentionally withheld from North Haven police a statement from a possible witness. The department's probe is separate from the grand jury investigation, although they are likely to cover some of the same ground. etc.zwire.com ===== - Jeff
