The REAL problem was that we were in a mania.

I quite agree. I've watched LSI (semi) go from 20 to 120 to 12 to 180 to (now) 86. Why don't people get that it's a cyclical business, and that the world is not going to come to and end (bust) or go on wonderful forever (boom) is quite beyond me.

As for CSCO, I think it got pulled into the frenzy because of all the dot-coms. It was nice, but now it's over. (from JC, the musical).

Of course, it makes life interesting. :)

(and Monty, being civil shouldn't depend on other people being civil. Other people can be total morons, but I (and I hope you) have your own set of standards.

OY Monty,

I still see a difference between the dotcom mania and a complete devistation in the market. Fundamentals are still extremely strong for many of the market leaders. AMAT, for example, was getting killed after hours for meeting expectations last night. The company grew revenues 87% quarter over quarter and earnings from .18-.55 in that period. Guidance going forward is for growing demand on an international basis. Does that sound like there is a problem or a weakening in its story? There are dozens of companies like AMAT, CSCO and NT that will keep the market from crashing.
