Michael, I think they're all saying that (A) the Internet, cell phone and other communications media explosion are causing the chip shortage. Also, PCs and servers are hotter than they were expected to be (in good part because of A). James Morgan of AMAT, who might have one of the best perspectives because they build equipment that makes chips for all applications, sees a possible 10 year boom. Scary.

The cost of a new fab has to be a big hurdle for many companies. Also the surge in demand across the spectrum is such that it would have been impossible to predict.

Today, fooling around, I downloaded Napster, the program that allows you to download music files from other peoples hard drive/Napster files. If you have the time to try it out, I recommend it, it is very cool (imho).
