From Cisco's March 99 earnings report:

The prices of component parts have fluctuated in the recent past, and we expect that this trend may continue. An increase in the price of component parts may have a material adverse impact on gross margins. We expect that gross margins will continue to decrease in the future, because we believe that the market for lower-margin remote access and switching products for small to medium-sized businesses will continue to increase at a faster rate than the market for our higher-margin router and high-performance switching products.

And they have similiar standard clauses that are included in every report.

Why would the news hounds happen to pick it up this time and turn it into a negative? I know...I know....
