You can check that stuff out by using the options tool box on the CBOE website. Here's the link:

FWIW, I'm not much of a math head, so I don't use it. I try to bear in mind that times of high volatility are good opportunities to sell options, rather than buy them, because of the juicy premiums.

You've "got it" about waiting to buy when the stock's consolidated a wee bit. <gg>
