My dream: a CSCO/NT merger.

(My other dream: Denise Richards skinny dipping in my swimming pool.)

Oh well...

I agree that NT will probably do fine going forward and feel like you that the real money is at the edge of the transport network.

Cisco's growth into the optical space has taken place much faster than I expected so I'm pretty happy with their performance. There is a lot of room for these companies to grow going forward so they should do just fine.

I'm enjoying the "correction" in the markets. I lived through the bear market in 74 and this is nothing like that one! Time will tell. I won't be convinced it's a bear market until at least six months have gone by. We all knew the .COMS would get hit, it was just a matter of time. It sure didn't take a genius to figure that one out!

All in all the fundamentals of the companies making money in this space are great. Cisco with 0 debt is best positioned to weather this short term storm.

Eric

You misunderstood me BGG..........I am not saying CSCO will dissappear! They will continue to dominate Enterprise and some edge markets.

My only point was that the growth outlook and risk associated with chasing the 50% year-over-year growth by jumping into the Carrier space doesn't justify their PE ratio.

CSCO is an excellent company -- just not worth what it is being valued today -- because my feeling is that they will not come close to dominating the Carrier space. As I said before, LU, NT, ALA, ERICY, MOT, NOK are NOT 3COM.

Choosing one's battle is sometimes more important than almost anything else......just ask Napoleon Bonaparte :)

On a risk-return basis, NT is a better investment imo. That's all I meant to say.
