Good post Walter. I am just lamenting on the woulda, coulda, shoulda, part. I like the merger, I think we all believe Ancor has incredible potential with its high margin products like the 64 & 128 Port Directors that will be taking off within a year. Upon reflecting on the whole thing, it is just hard for me to see Ancor valued at .5 shares(.75 shares for each Qlogic share to 1 for 1 would of been better, but hey we haven't ramped fast enough to deserve that). I am very impressed with Qlogic's management and I believe Ken is doing what is best for the shareholders. I think that Qlogic will maximize the value of Ancor's technology and create new value out of products that would never have existed had the merger not happened. This is probably the last time I will lament over the would, coulda, shoulda, and just be happy we are in the game on a team that has no equal.

Walter,

<<Finally, if FC wins the mind share game over the FUD that Cisco is spreading about vaporware ethernet for the SAN, then Cisco will simply buy into the FC space>>

Very good point. The more educated the investment communities are, the more willingness for them to invest in FC companies. CSCO commands full attention in the WAN/IP arena. The Cabletron, the 3COM, if they want to sell WAN products, they better make them compatible with CSCO's routers. It is not the case in the storage space, CSCO has no products to compete with the SUN, HWP, EMC, IBM, etc. A system with this magnitude cannot be created in a vacuum. No matter how great (highly doubtful) their new GE switch happens to be, without other products to connect to, it is meaningless. Vaporware is the right word.
