Agreed,
I don't know where Maria got that info, but I highly doubt it had any bearing on today's action.

Very nice close.

HO-MEE. Though I dislike the term you appended to playa's name, I must agree it is appropriate to that individual's manner. Have you noticed that he hasn't posted since 4:21 yesterday? He tells us he only posts on this thread because he is concerned about us, the GNET longs. Of course, yesterday, when GNET reached its nadir, he posted no less than 9 times, often closing with his patented expression of good luck GNET longs, which, in my judgment, may be viewed as insincere and taunting.

Let's look at the record, as Al Smith, a colorful pol of generations past, was wont to say. Sometime ago, in response to something I wrote, playa claimed that he never posts under any other alias, and I will take him at his word. As you may recall, he indicated he sold his position in GNET somewhere around the end of February or the beginning of March. He suggested he would not frequent this thread any longer but soon did otherwise. About the same time, on March 10, he created his own thread which he boldly titled PLAYAS PLAYPEN.

The lead entry on his thread reads, as pertinent:
"Started By: playavermont
Date: Mar 10, 2000 10:55 PM
Here we go! Here are the picks for the months ahead as requested by a boatload of fellow S.I.'ers.

TLXS
CMTO
INKT
CMGI
XTND
SFE
BRCM
RRRR

In no particular order!

Will gladly respond to any and all questions."

To give playa the benefit of doubt, I presume the term boatland was mere hyperbole, for the thread shows only 14 messages from March 10 through March 14 and has been dormant since. Ten of the posts were playa's, while four were authored by two other aliases. One may conclude that his opinions are no more well received there than here. More revealing is the available record, found in his profile, showing that from March 13 at 8:45 P.M. (GNET Post #17483) to May 10 at 4:21 P.M. (GNET Post #19040), inclusive, playa compiled a record of 74+ or- posts on this thread, but only 7+ or- on all other threads (INSP 2,INKT 1, MDD, a general discussion thread, 1, his playpen 1, and what appear to be an eBay thread 1, and a yahoo thread 1). I believe it is fair to say that nearly all the GNET posts were negative. I did not attempt to ascertain whether the individual posts occurred on red days or green days, but if playa followed yesterday's paradigm....?

HO-MEE, I will not try to carry the record any further because it is not worth the effort (as this post may not be, either). I do not consider playa to be unintelligent. However, in respect to his conduct on this thread, I will reiterate my acceptance of your well conceived version of his name to which I would add Sarkie's apt description ---nasty. Why else would he continue to barrage us with his negativity when he has no financial interest in GNET?

My purpose here is to provide a record of playa's recent behavior. I do not wish to foist my opinion on others. Please reach your own conclusions.
