They don't make the actual motherboards, those are contracted to a third party like Asus.

I think you will find that Asus makes motherboards, but so does Intel. The one on my desk certainly has an Intel brand name on it. Check out intel.com

I disagree, Praxis, based on my personal experience as a supplier to Intel. Intel's motherboard facility is in the Portland area, where they do design, prototype, and small volume runs. They have company owned facilities around the world for volume production. When I last called on them, this included Intel operations in Puerto Rico and Malaysia. Third party manufacturing is probably for overflow requirements only.
