Petz - Yep. I was blown away by $1.15 (even with the $0.10) and then even more amazed that this reflected a 13% increase in diluted shares outstanding. Even though I had an earnings number when preparing my estimate the value that stuck with me was EPS. They beat my EPS ($0.95) but beat my earnings estimate even more.

Hopefully the transition to taxed earnings can be as gracefully accommodated. If AMD has another blow-out quarter and taxes appear to be part of the picture sooner... then I hope they provide a little guidance so investors (and more importantly analysts) don't get a surprise.

The current earnings should be discounted 30% for taxes with this 30% being a "one-time" gain. Otherwise, the YOY numbers might not look good even though they represent substantial growth. AAPL has been going through this transition. And on another note, AAPL's MRQ numbers were better IMO than DELL for the most recent reports but were not nearly as well presented by the media or received by the street. AAPL and AMD are very similar and my two largest holdings (and I just added a little more AAPL as I am "full" of AMD -- there wasn't anything to sell to buy more yesterday).
