Check your margin agreement, you signed one to short..
Three days is a courtesy on a House Call (when funds are too little because the SHORT positions went UP),
But your broker can usually call a short without notice, if the borrowed shares are withdrawn,
And can even call your short without notice when it goes up if you do not have sufficient funds to cover the additional valuation.

It's all in the fine print :>)
