That much is definitely true.
I don't "try to figure out the market". But I do know what it's driving forces are. The key is to be prepared for all eventualities.
My favorite story is ORCL, which was worth much less on a % basis 1 year after my initial purchase. I bought more. Now I'm sitting on gains that, even if it (haha) goes back to 50, are TREMENDOUS.
AAPL, ASPT...same thing. CNXT looks like round 4 for me, and I'm happy to take it. MFNX, did the same thing but I was too skittish when it tanked the first time. Shame, since I would have doubled my money in less than 6 months. Quadrupled if I'd sold at the peak (which I did to remove my initial investment...one of only 2 times I've actually sold at a peak).
