Corel and Inprise in last-ditch talks

I think "Inprise in talks to ditch Corel" would be more appropriate.

If the merger is still on, the market prices of the shares seems to be suggesting the market expects a new 1 for 1 ratio.

Nonetheless, I think some of the more voiciferous opponents of the deal posting here would not want the merger to proceed at any ratio.

This is unfortunate. The combined entity would be a real dream team in the Linux world... able to truly shape the market... perhaps more powerful together than Red Hat.

So, is the deal dead? Or is the ratio to be adjusted?

The merger is dead, IMO. "Definitive agreement" or not, Corel can't afford to sue. They would run out of cash to pay the lawyers long before the lawsuit, and appeals, end.
