Frank I read this in USA Today, yesterday (perhaps a fitting source). I am not sure what they have (perhaps the 500 Kwatt laser Boeing developed for the defense dept... pushing the limits of fiber exhaust), at what frequencies their laser operates or their cost advantage. I am intrigued by some of the recent advances in the sold state optics area. Can the System-on-a-chip mind set migrate to the optics area? I seems likely at some point but not soon. Perhaps others will have thoughts on the announcement and the more generel themes implied by these types of companies.

Are they offering any details beyond PR so that comparisons can be made to available products. For example, MODE's (Emcore subsidiary) VCSEL:

biz.yahoo.com

I believe MODE's first shipment went to JDSU with Agilent also waiting to buy.

read with caution
Frank, As with Agilent, I see alot of PRs, but very few independent reports of field trials or successes. Most news media repeat the PRs. Maybe this is why I am slow to buy some of these stocks. I will check this company out this weekend. Good night.

FACts,

I just thank God that now that Silkroad has departed, and LUMM is not nearly so luminous, that we now have a great new hope. With an extended cavity, this could not only answer the needs of the photonics/telecomms industries but be the saving grace for thousands of starving dentists across the country as well. Thank God.
