Gary, >It's always puzzled me that the analysts (and the idiots on CNBC) kept talking about a need for more increases

To be fair, Joe Battapaglia and Larry Kudlow appear on CNBC a lot (Joe today) and they say that hikes should be finished. (although fat chance that's true).

Gary, your scenario sounds very nice, but I can guarantee you that Greenspan will give no indication that the economy is slowing, even if, in fact, it is! The Fed and Greenspan want this uncertainty to remain in the market, for as long as it can, because they feel better about it not getting to exuberant that way. Can you imagine what the Markets would do if the Fed and Greenspan signaled a slow down in the economy? Forget that notion, it ain't happening, at least not disclosed by the Fed anyway.

CSCO will be a Relief Rally winner...its always had a high P/E and Always delivered on earnings, so its still doing M&A and business expansion, as everyone knows the internet and routers etc will keep expanding in the US for over the next 5 years, and then there is the rest of the world, and then always more, better, bigger and faster after that, so I suspect we will see a huge relief rally since there is little chance of any "bad" or "fraidy cat" news for at least another month even of the Fed may might maybe could would of should of etc raise rates yet once more hereafter. To hell with the SHORT SELLING PANIC MONGERS, even they need to fatten up the sheep and lemmings if they want to have anything to short, so even the "market" events in the absence of any "economic" event in our super abundent healthy inflation free economy will give us a relief rally.

P.S. You are absolutely right about the delayed "curative" effects of and fed rate increases, for example, even ARM and other variable rate interest instruments, adjustable mortgages, etc, do not change to higher rates until after the month or quarter of occurrence, and then the borrower has the next month to make payments, and then another month to pass on likewise price increases to their customers or longer to demand higher wages or higher salaries from their employers, who then pass the rate increases also onto the customer or consuming public etc., all taking a delayed effect as you point out, thereby as I have always said the only inflation is that CAUSED by the FED and GREENSPAN since it was entirely lacking in the economy and even the oil increases (which were short) were a reaction to and caused by the FEDERAL RESERVE GREENSPAMMERS AND RELATED B.S. (BEAR SYNDROME).
